University of Hamburg (Master's)
I am a German native speaker with a master degree in German Language and Literature from the University of Hamburg/Germany. I have also worked (during my time as a student and later) as a social worker in Hamburg for more than 15 years. During that time I was working with children and young people (ages 1-21) and teaching classes in German to immigrants in Germany.
Since my high school years, I have been teaching private lessons. When I settled here in the United States I was creating my own business and taught students from the university on a regular basis. Since 2014 I'm also a teacher at the German School (Deutsche Schule) of Ann Arbor.
As you can see, I have teaching experience with people from all walks of life, especially high school and university students and I am able to teach every level. I worked for the biggest part of my life with children and young people and your children will be in good hands.

That's what I evaluate in my experience as the most effective form of instruction. Learning must also be fun. When children don't like what they are doing, they will be distracted earlier or later. I make sure that every lesson is exciting and leaves the student with a sense of achievement.
It goes without saying that I am fluent in English, and I also speak French. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
