I'm Emily C., a 27 year old female with a true passion for English (reading, writing, literature) and for art history. I have been a high school teacher for the past year and enjoy helping, and seeing, students succeed with their education goals.
I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging ways to approach reading and writing. I like teaching English because the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills that are taught can be applied to many subject areas and are relevant in work place as well.
I have the following academic credentials: a B.A. in English & Art History, Augustana College, Rock Island, IL. And I have a M.A. in Art History & Visual Culture, Richmond the American International University in London, London, UK. I also have an M.E. Secondary Education (English Language Arts), University of Toledo, Toledo, OH
I'm currently a high school English teacher and understand the English Language Art standards that students need to master in order to be successful. I also have practice teaching a diverse set of learners and I differentiate my instruction as often as I can to best meet the needs of my individual students. My B.A. in English further supports my qualifications because I have a an depth knowledge of classic and modern literature, as well as with Shakespeare.
I have a B.A. and an M.A. in Art History and truly have a passion for the subject. I have experience with art, art criticism, and visual culture spanning from the earliest art to today's contemporary art market. I have interned at multiple museums and art galleries as well.
Please contact me about any questions you may have! I look forward to working with you to reaching your education and test score goals! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
