Bio

I am a Magna Cum Laude graduate with a bachelor's in Chemistry and mathematics. I worked with a variety of students from different age ranges and background. I also tutored a number of students from Louisiana TECH, EMU, WCC, high schools in Michigan, and the University of Michigan, where I currently work as a Biomedical research assistant. These experiences have enhanced my methods of relating with students and made me more effective at what I do.

As an international student who has studied in countries other than the United States, my diverse educational training has also helped me appreciate and present courses from different angles to enhance the understanding of the student. Mathematics has always been my subject of interest. I had 4.0 in all Mathematics courses I ever took in college. Most students have a major problem in mathematics and this subject sometimes scare them. The problem is mostly the level at which the material is been presented to them, the time dedicated to make them understand the material and constant practice.

I love tutoring students at the high school level because I am able to create a bigger impact in their lives. Tutoring so far has given me the opportunity to also mentor my high school students. Preparing them for ACT and SAT, guiding them through college applications, and career options have been my most rewarding experience. I have students who made tremendous improvements in their tests scores and were able to get into Ivy League colleges; students who were forced to get a tutor, hated Math, and school in general but had a change of heart after a couple of sessions with me. These success stories are the reasons why I will always be a tutor and mentor to students.

Patience, dedication, grit and hard work are the keys to success. I love to tutor/mentor and I give each student I tutor the maximum attention, patience, time, and dedication needed for them to succeed.
I am looking forward to great tutoring sessions with you. Good luck.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra, 1 just like Algebra 2, Prealgebra, and Precalculus, marks the foundation to upper level math courses. Understanding the basic concepts in these courses determines how well you will do in higher math courses. I took Algebra in Cameroon, West Africa and this marked the beginning of my love for Math. The approach was perfect. I was trained to understand the concepts and rules of mathematics in such a way that I can never forget. I have also tutored this course for 3 years and I have mastered different ways to explain the concepts.
Calculus,

Calculus

I took this course in Cameroon West Africa, both in high school level and college level, and I was the best in the class. I also took this course at Grambling State University, and was the most successful student and ranked highest in the class. I have over 2 years experience in tutoring both Calculus I and II for college students, and the MARC scholars at Grambling State University. I have developed better and easier means of approaching calculus problems, some of which might not be presented to you by your teacher due to the limited time they might have in a class setting. I hope I can use my experience to make this easier for you.
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Chemistry has different branches. My specialty is in General Chemistry (high school and college level) and Analytic Chemistry (Quantitative Analysis in some schools). I earned my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Grambling State University in Louisiana and graduated Magna Cum Laude. I maintained perfect grades while earning my degree. While at Grambling, I tutored students in Chemistry courses for three years. I am currently employed in the field of Chemistry as a Biomedical Research Assistant at the University of Michigan’s North Campus Research Complex. I believe there are many ways of studying Chemistry courses that have worked for me and the students I have tutored. I would love to share this with more students.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

This course is one of the bases for further Math courses. The knowledge and topics in Pre-algebra is greatly applied throughout all Math courses. I took this course in Cameroon, West Africa, about 10 years ago, and it was presented to me in such a way that I could never forget the material. As a student at Grambling State University, I have tutored this course for three years to the freshmen as a preparation for college Math courses.

Great tutor. Knowledgeable and easy to work with.

Worked with my son to bridge gaps in his algebra 2 understanding. Took the time to understand his specific needs and provided useful alternative approaches to solve and understand problems. Also provided helpful feedback at the end of the session. Will definitely use again.

Very knowledgeable and encouraging

Gordon-Victor is a perfect fit! My son began to feel more confident immediately. He's actually excited for his next session. My husband and I are relieved. We think Gordon's support in math class will also renew his attitude about school in general. Thanks so much for making it so easy to find the perfect fit of a tutor!

Patient

I have only had Gordon for one lesson so far for calculus 2. He was very accommodating as to where to meet and on the material.
