I have a PhD in mathematics and have been teaching math for over 25 years, both at the college and high school levels. I am currently a full-time mathematics teacher at a private school, and am available for summer tutoring jobs in all math subjects, from elementary school through college. I have been a private tutor for elementary students, high school students, and college students studying advanced mathematics and statistics.

My PhD is from the University of Notre Dame, and I have an MA in Mathematics from UC Davis.

I love teaching, and enjoy watching students' understanding of complex mathematical concepts develop. I will help you make connections between the new topics you are learning and concepts you have already mastered. That way, it will all make sense to you and you will be able to solve new problems on your own.

Math

Finite Math,

Finite Math

I have taught finite mathematics several times, including linear programming, the simplex algorithm, combinatorics, probability, Leontief input-output analysis, and Markov chains.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have taught Linear Algebra at the college level multiple times, usually using Howard Anton's classic text. Linear Algebra starts with the study of systems of linear equations and then delves into an investigation of matrices, linear operators, and vector spaces.
Logic,

Logic

I studied mathematical logic as a graduate student and wrote my dissertation in that field. At the college level, I have taught the "Chapter 0" course that helps lower division math students acquire the skills they need to succeed in upper division courses. Much of this involves understanding propositional logic, sentential logic with quantifiers, and basic theorem-proving techniques.
