Hi! My name is Youssouf and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, studying Computer Engineering and minoring in French. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn French extensively, including earning the Seal of Biliteracy in French from the Michigan Department of Education in high school and completing and earning credit for AP French Language during my junior year. I am also fortunate to have French-speaking parents, which has given me a unique advantage in learning and understanding the language. In addition to French, I have always been passionate about math and enjoy helping students improve in various subjects.
I am an outgoing and easy-to-talk-to person, and I have competed competitively and independently studied the sports of soccer and track & field. Although I do not have previous tutoring experience, I have worked in customer-oriented jobs throughout college and high school, which has helped me develop strong communication skills and prioritize customer satisfaction. In these positions, I have worked as a computing sales advisor at Best Buy and as a specialist with Apple.
In my tutoring sessions, I aim to create a personal and authentic experience for my students. I want them to feel safe and heard, and I use the Pomodoro method and time management techniques to help them stay focused and on track. I am also willing to teach these techniques to my students, as I have learned to be very patient through my job experience. I believe that several different methods can be used for math, depending on the needs and goals of the student. Additionally, I find that physical or digital flashcards can be a helpful tool for subjects like French, which can sometimes involve the memorization of conjugations.
I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with students and help them reach their full potential!
