About Jasmin

Currently an undergraduate student, I am pursuing a degree in Music Education in the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College. My coursework at Gettysburg has allowed me to create and run an after-school program at a local elementary school, experience working with and assisting local students in their music programs, and getting the chance to observe many teachers in the area teach. Next year I will be a PLA (peer learning assistant) for the Musicology I course at the college, where I will be paid to tutor and assist students in taking the course. In Windham, I have created and run an after-school group lesson program at the local middle school and given private music lessons to some students in the community on piano. I have worked at my local church and taught one of the classes during their Vacation Bible Camp during the summer. During my high school career I tutored students in Algebra and Chemistry through the National Honors Society.

I am a clarinetist and pianist and I enjoy reading, writing, and history among other topics. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I remember because I love creating meaningful relationships with people and helping them reach their potential through learning. Since I was young I have always been there to help my friends study and I have always enjoyed it. I hope offering my services in tutoring is a way for me to give back to the community and also gain experience doing what I love.

I have always had a love for reading and my love for reading has helped me excel in many other subjects. I want to be able to help others find the same love or at least usefulness that I have found in reading, especially since reading is such a critical skill to have to be successful in today's world.

I have always been passionate and interested in history. My love for history has helped me learn in other subjects by putting events, discoveries, books, and authors within their historical context. During high school I took AP United States History and AP European History and scored very high on both tests. I did the best in my AP United States History course and still have many resources from that class to use and refer to, such as an AP exam prep book.

I have 11 years of private piano experience with an additional semester of college-level Piano Skills where we learned not only piano but strategies to teach piano. I have also given some private piano lessons during high school. I have 10 years of private clarinet instruction and continue to study clarinet with my professor at Gettysburg College. I have 7 years of ensemble experience (band and orchestra) and many chamber music experiences that have let me grow as a musician. I also have two years of music theory experience to further solidify my musical knowledge.

My passion for music and music education is evident through my experience and my desire to teach. I have access to many resources and am very qualified to give lessons.

Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a lesson!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have 10 years of private clarinet instruction and continue to study clarinet with my professor at Gettysburg College.
