About Robert

What do I mean by adaptable results? To answer that, let me tell you some of my story. I have both dyslexia and dysgraphia which means that throughout school the techniques that worked for most of the other children failed miserably with me. I survived high school due to finding what works for me. After high school I spent some time in the Navy in submarines where I thrived. Underwater the goal matters, how you get there doesn't make a difference when you finally plug that leak....

Starting off my adult life that way was a great help and I like to bring those life lessons with me when I tutor. On top of the usual peer-to-peer help in passing various chemistry and math exams in college, I have also been a life skills coach and last year helped a man from Somalia pass his math GED. Math and language skills can be be very challenging but together we achieved that goal and he is now a citizen.

So what can I offer your student? I can tutor math from middle school to high school algebra and trig. I can also tutor high school and college general chemistry and physics.

As far as my background, after the military I went to college where I earned a bachelor of science in biology and chemistry with honors. Since then I've worked as a laboratory technician in the southern Maine area.

I wish you the best of luck in your search,
Robert

P.S. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have or additional information I can provide.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I really enjoyed my courses in college and look forward to helping others. In both semesters of my general chemistry courses I was #2 in my class.
