My passion for science is in the life science/biology field but I also enjoy earth science and physical science as well. My students and I have been involved with real science involving the investigations of estuary water quality, forest ecology, satellite imagery, and carbon cycling and climate change and many others as well. I have always felt that science is a "hands-on" study which requires observation, measurement, experimentation, imagination and fun!

Over my 37 years of teaching in public and private schools, I taught in grades 5-8. I have also tutored for the Sylvan Learning Center in grade 4 for the SES program in the past. The past two years I have also substitute taught in the elementary grades (K-6). These work experiences certainly make me qualified to tutor in the K-6th area.

I have had many years teaching about plants. Instruction has involved the anatomy and classification of plants. Photosynthesis is one of my favorite subjects in botany. I have also been extensively involved with my students investigating the effects of ground level ozone on the health of white pine trees on the school campus through a university sponsored project called Forest Watch.
