I received my B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Brandeis University in 2014, graduating summa cum laude. I then studied at UC Santa Barbara, where I was a Teaching Assistant for several different physics courses, from introductory to advanced levels, before graduating with a Master's in Physics in 2017. Most recently, I have taught in the Math department at Santa Barbara City College. My favorite part of teaching and TAing has always been having the opportunity to help students understand the material in a one-on-one setting during my office hours.

My goal as a tutor is to provide insight into the process of problem solving through an understanding of the underlying concepts. I hope to guide students to the point where they can learn difficult concepts on their own, and will eventually no longer need me. In the meantime, I will work through examples with students in areas they're struggling with, providing detailed analysis of each step, and also making sure to step back and focus on grasping the foundations of the subject.

Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in scheduling a session!

Mathematica

Mathematica

Mathematica is a powerful tool that I have used extensively for the past eight years in multiple graduate and undergraduate research projects and in my coursework. I can help students learn to use its capabilities to solve advanced math problems or to create professional-looking graphs and animations.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have taught three intermediate algebra courses at the Santa Barbara City College. Through this experience, I have learned what stumbling blocks algebra students are likely to encounter, and how to work with students to develop problem-solving skills and a thorough understanding of the material. I will focus on helping students work through problems covering a given topic until they are able to do similar problems independently.

Calculus,

Calculus

I have spent years using calculus every day as a physics grad student and in my math and physics undergraduate majors. A thorough understanding of derivatives and integrals is key to most high-level math and all high-level physics. As a teaching assistant, I have gained experience helping students with calculus for a variety of physics courses. I will work with students to develop in them the problem solving skills that I have acquired through years of study.
Physics,

Physics

I have loved physics since middle school and am always excited to share my passion. I have a Master's in Physics from UCSB and experience TAing many physics courses throughout grad school. I will work with students to develop in them the same problem-solving skills that I have gained through years of studying physics.

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

Differential equations are one of the primary tools in a physicist's toolkit. I have used differential equations extensively in my own research and study of physics, as well as in my undergraduate math major. I have experience helping students understand how to solve differential equations as a physics teaching assistant. Whether first or second order, homogeneous or inhomogeneous, ordinary or partial, I'm here to help.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I have spent many hours helping students understand linear algebra applied to quantum mechanics, a course I have TA'd in which linear algebra is ubiquitous and extremely important. During my undergraduate math major, I gained broader experience in the subject with a more theoretical emphasis and with attention to proofs. I'm here to help with anything from basic topics such as row reduction and eigenvectors to more advanced concepts.
Logic,

Logic

Two of my favorite undergraduate courses were symbolic and mathematical logic, which I took as part of a philosophy minor at Brandeis University. My background as a math major with prior experience using proofs proved extremely helpful in understanding the formal systems that compose the study of logic. I can help students understand basic concepts such as truth tables and trees, validity, quantifiers, and formal reasoning, as well as more advanced topics.
