I came to the teaching profession a bit later than most of my colleagues. Prior to my entry into the profession I worked as a long term care pharmacy technician.
My teaching certification is for grades 7-12, in both Life Science and Physical Science. I have taught just about all grades in that range, during my short career. High school subjects that I have taught include Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science.
I have an Associate in Marine Biology and Oceanography and my Bachelor's is in Biology. I went to the University of Southern Maine and completed their Extended Teacher Education Program (ETEP). In May 2015, I completed my Master's program.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
