My name is Mrs. Bhagya C. and currently I work as a Project Manager for a reputed US Bank in Maine. I am a scientist by training and spent a fair amount of time in pharmaceutical industry and more recently, moved into project management. I am a certified PMP (from PMI) and also a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from ASQ. Both these exams are competitive exams with a single digit pass rate and I am happy of my accomplishments. In addition to a Bachelors degree in Biology, I also possess a bachelors degree in Education from Osmania University. I taught middle and high school children for a few years before I moved to the US for higher education. As a graduate student, I was able to tutor undergraduate students for a couple of years as well.
The most convincing testimony I bring is tutoring my own children. I have two children - one is a sophomore in college and the other is getting ready to graduate from high school. In addition to working with them from elementary to middle school, I assisted them prep for ACT and SAT. Both did well scoring above 30 in ACT and about 2000 in SAT. My love for teaching comes because I want children to succeed at school and any competitive exams they take. Most students have the capability to work hard and succeed; guidance is all they need and I believe I can provide that guidance and instill self-confidence in them. The skills I bring to tutoring are: disciplined approach to studying, studying strategies, self-evaluation to determine the cause of students lack of interest or participation, make the students accountable for their successes and, most importantly, make them self-confident of their potential. And, all this from my personal experiences.

$25 - $75 an hour. The rate varies with the subject and the age group. For example, elementary subjects would be charged less than ACT or SAT prep sessions.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelors in Botany, Zoology and Chemistry. My bachelors in education degree emphasized Botany and Chemistry. As a Master's student, I tutored undergraduate students in Botany. I also taught middle school students Botany in India.
In addition to tutoring my children at that age, I have always volunteered to assist students their age in all subjects, elementary math in particular.
As we grew up, we had to practice one-page cursive handwriting and this continued until high school. All through my education and even today in my career, I prefer to write first and then go the computer for word processing - just to keep the practice going. I will use this experience to help students improve their handwriting and penmanship.
I have taken the competitive exam from Project Management Institute and passed the exam. I am a PMP (Project Management Professional).
With the educational background I possess including the competitive exams I have taken. I have passed all examinations successfully in the first attempt. This proves the studying skills I practiced. Secondly, I tutored my children with a disciplined study program, question answering techniques and practice tests. Both scored decent in the competitive exams.
