Firstly, I have a doctoral degree from Walden University in Psychology, specializing in Educational Psychology. I received my master’s degree in Psychology from Capella University. I have over ten years’ experience in distance education. I am an adjunct faculty member for my local community college and other universities. I teach psychology (introduction to psychology and theories of personality), sociology, criminological theory, juvenile justice, and the occasional speech classes.

I live in a rural coastal town in Down East Maine. I have two miles of oceanfront or rather a cove so the water is tidal. It is very beautiful and serene. I have approximately forty acres that my family live on. I have three children (18, 15 & 11) so I am very active with baseball, cub scouts, dance class, etc. We love to kayak, swim, and just have fun as we watch the deer, moose, and the pointy porcupine walk by.

I have substantial expertise in many subjects especially psychology related to the topics I teach that is integrated into my classroom both online and face-to-face to benefit my learners. I am a facilitator and instructor with over seven years’ experience as an educator, an experienced clinician, and have a strong background in working with adult students - from those just entering college with limited professional experience to students with years of professional expertise looking to expand their skillset.

Education is a life-long endeavor and as educators, our goal is to prepare students for this endeavor by providing the students with a base of information on which they can build, and encouraging in them attitudes and techniques for continued learning. I prefer student-centered teaching that encourages learning by both students and teachers. I believe that teaching should be a creative and meaningful endeavor for both the teacher and the student. I believe that constant communication between the teacher and learner can help overcome difficulties that arise may be resolved as soon as possible so that the learning process may continue.
