Bio

I have been a certified CRLA level 1 tutor since September 2016. I became certified at University of Southern Maine and tutored English, ESOL, and Linguistics this past year. I will be tutoring the same subjects this coming academic year. Before I became certified I tutored my friends during the summer with a math program my high school had.

I love that with tutoring I'm not just helping students receive better grades but I am helping them boost their confidence. I love that I am able to do something for the community and help put myself through college as well. It is a "win-win" situation for everyone involved.

I have been a tutor for Algebra since I was in the class! I helped fellow students as we learned and continued to help those in the class after passing the class with an A. I really enjoy helping others learn math the right way so that they can feel more confident.

As mentioned I have the CRLA certification. My focus during the certification course was ESOL and had my own mentor in how to tutor those in ESL programs. I myself am an English speaker and I study language as a whole as my major so I know how different languages tend to work. This helps me understand some of the common problems people have with learning language. For general writing I have always excelled and received high marks in high school and college. I love to share the resources that helped me complete those classes!

As I had mentioned, I am a student of Linguistics. My concentration for this major is Speech Language. This means I have taken courses related to speech as well as other non relevant classes. I know how to get those tough sounds out or to help distinguish when two sounds sound alike. I have mentored those with speech problems for two years.

I would love to tell you more information if needed as well as answer any questions you may have. Please contact me so we can get started and get you smiling.
