My name is Angelika. I am a piano teacher from Germany, but have lived in the US for several years now. I also tutor several languages, sciences, other areas in music including Music Theory and several other subjects.
My primary experience is with children and young people ages six through 18. I am able to adjust and focus my teaching methods to each student's special needs. I like to pay special attention to a student's learning style and working out a way to help him/her become an effective and independent learner. I believe patience, persistence and motivation are very important ingredients when trying to achieve a goal and I am here to help achieve that goal be it in German, Piano performance or Music Theory.
Where there is a will, there is a way! My expectations are high and I encourage students to work hard. The highest reward for me is a student's success!

Angelika tutored my 7 year old daughter in German for approximately one month, in preparation for entering 3rd grade in Germany when we move abroad. They met 5 days a week for 90 minutes per day. My daughter knew no German, but Angelika was fun and engaging and my daughter had no problem with the 90 minute intensive lessons. Even though it was summer vacation, she never complained once about going and actually looked forward to it! My daughter made so much progress in one month that we decided not to keep her back a year for language acquisition as initially intended and she will go into her normal grade. I also noticed how enthusiastic and positive my daughter was in learning the language and this is a tribute to Angelika's quality of teaching. For material, they used children's texts on language and math (upon my request) from my daughter's new school. They also made memory games with homemade cards which my daughter enjoyed and played with me at home too. Above all, I noticed how acute my daughter's accent is having learned from a native German speaker and she already sounds better than me or my husband. Don't hesitate with seeking Angelika's German tutoring services... she is a knowledgeable, patient and kind teacher!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been enrolled in a sight singing course for several years and currently am a member in two choirs. That gives me the abilities to help and tutor others how to sight sing.
