I am a Princeton University grad who loves teaching and sharing my international experience. I have taught in Turkey at university level to ESL students for fifteen years. My courses were in the Graduate Program for Cultural Heritage at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. All my students had passed TOEFL and were seeking to improve their English while learning about Cultural Heritage sites in Turkey and abroad. I know the courses were enjoyable because the number of students wanting to enroll increased each semester. Each student got to be involved in a real cultural heritage project where I often had firsthand professional experience. I kept the assignments short so that each student would have the opportunity to improve his/her writing and presentation skills while also learning about a Cultural Heritage site. I believe in making learning fun.

I also have experience with TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at the YMCA and Learning Works in Portland. I tutored classes of 10-12 students as well as one-on-one. This experience was especially rewarding as it gave me the opportunity to reach out to students who have recently sought refuge in the United States. Most of the students came from Africa, although some came from El Salvador, Iraq and other countries. I use visual materials and handouts so that each student has something to take away from each class. I hold a Graduate Certificate in Teaching ESL from the University of Southern Maine. I look forward to tutoring other students online on a person-to-person basis.
