About Anne

As the head of the Department of ESL at Jakarta International School, I have many years of experience tutoring and mentoring students who do not speak English as their native tongue. I have terrific experience working with their parents as well, both as an advisor as to the best way for their children to succeed or as a tutor for the parents themselves. As a retired lawyer with courtroom experience, I am an excellent tutor for expatriate executives needing to perfect their business English or native speakers in graduate level programs. I taught medical English to nurses in Saudi Arabia, English to Japanese students in Tokyo, history to Palestinian students in Jordan and reading to migrant worker families in Vermont. In Jordan, the King was my employer at his new school for high school aged future leaders in the Middle East.
I am also a creative writing instructor. I was accepted by the prestigious Breadloaf Writers Conference in 2005 as a visiting author and have published three books. I am an excellent editor for those who have serious publishing goals but also love teaching memoir writing for fun.

My work as a lawyer in the 1990's required me to write legal briefs to submit to the Vermont Supreme Court. In addition I had to write contracts and all the other legal writing entailed with a law practice.

I have written the ESL curriculum for several International Schools and was in charge of testing ESL students at various International Schools.

I have experience passing tests myself and experience making the grade in law school so I know what it takes to succeed. I can help any student to realize their goals.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
