Temple University (Health, PE)
I graduated Temple University with a BS in Education. I majored in English for two years. And physical education and health for two years. I did my student teaching in an elementary school and high school.
I have been a substitute teacher for 15 years and counting. I cover for all teachers in all grades. I am very serious about my work and want to improve each term with every student whom I work with.
My main strengthens are in the elementary schools.
I take on-line courses to improve myself on my job. I also read manuals to be a better teacher. I teach history and also read books about history.
I also work with student with special needs one on one. I am patient and supportive. I form a rapport with my students every time. They all benefit from my caring and kind approach. Mostly every student who I work with improves in their subject matters.
Over a career of 43 years with fabulous jobs, I love teaching more than other former jobs. I derive a special kind of achievement and fulfillment in doing this work. I love to see my former students employed in my community or gain knowledge of them working elsewhere.
I love the fact that I am helping each student one by one and in the classrooms to be successful and positive assets. I will continue teaching for as long as I live and will always to strive to become better teacher.
Any student can contact me. I will work with any student to establish a mutually agreed upon schedule. I graduated Temple University with a BS in Education. I majored in English for two years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I wok with students one-on-one with special needs issues. This includes English, math, social studies and science. I work with my teaching colleagues to do this job well. I work with department heads to learn from them in working students with special needs. I took and passed an on-line course called teaching students with disabilities. I have 20 credits in graduate school in working with those with disabilities. I have gone out to the field to apply what I have learned to the disabled. I read books about special needs children frequently. I am current in learning in this sphere of education. I will continue taking courses on line and in classrooms to improve working with kids of disabilities. Every student I work with who has any king of disability I have their confidence and know how to relate to their needs. They learn to be better students in the resource room and while being main streamed. I sit with them in their classes and must make sure that they learn the material.
