I have been a teacher for a total of seven years. I've taught high school French at all levels and have also done private tutoring. I love teaching language because I know students are learning a new way to communicate and by learning a second of third language, the world and communities become a smaller place. Depending on the level, I will use textbooks and workbooks to teach vocabulary and grammar but incorporate other tools such as video and music. I can use the materials you have if you're currently enrolled in a class, or I can use materials of my own.
I have recently completed Advanced ESL certification. I have experience teaching four sections of ESL this past summer and really enjoyed all aspects of the courses. I think it'll be important to use whatever skills my student has and enhance them with books and grammar. I believe whatever strengths the student has and whatever his or her goal will determine the focus of the ESL tutoring. I can, of course, use any existing material that the student has, as well as use my own materials and exercises. I have been a teacher for a total of seven years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a language teacher for over seven years and recently completed the TESOL Advanced Certification. I assisted in four sections of of ESL this past summer at Portsmouth Abbey School and I am looking forward building my experience with ESL through tutoring.
I've been teaching French for 7 years and really enjoy helping students learn another language. I lived in Paris during both my undergrad and graduate years while studying French. I have teaching materials and can adapt to using other materials quickly depending on the goals.
I always enjoyed English when I was in school and did very well while studying grammar, reading and writing. I am confident that I can help tutor any aspect of English grammar and look forward to helping a student achieve a greater level of success.
I always enjoyed English as a subject while I was a student and achieved very good grades in grammar, reading and writing. Thoughtfully reading a story or passage to answer comprehension questions or write a summary takes skill and I believe I can help students with all these aspects. I am an avid reader of many types of books in my free time as well.
