University of Maine (Education)
I love mathematics and education and want to help students succeed. I believe that students learn best when instruction is personalized to their needs and through tutoring this can be possible. I have a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Maine where I graduated cum laude with a degree in secondary education. I have taught high school mathematics for 10 years.
Over the course of my teaching career I have used many activities to help my students learn everything from Algebra 1 to A.P. Calculus. I meet individual's needs by addressing multiple learning styles- using methods such as mnemonic devices, visual cues, graphic organizers, and real life situations, students will understand and connect to the mathematics. I am always looking for new ways to engage my students.
My hours are very flexible and can meet either at a public location or at a place that is safe and practical learning environment. I look forward to helping you succeed in your math class. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a Maine certified mathematics teacher, and have helped create the curriculum at a local high school.

I have both taught and tutored calculus over the last 15 years. In college I tutored for the University of Maine. Over the last two years I have taught A.P. calculus in high school. I have a firm grasp of the concepts and what is required to do well on the A.P. test.
Taught and created a curriculum for precalculus.
