About Daniel

Hello,
I am hard of hearing and I have been signing since I was 7 years old. For the past seven years I have been teaching in a special needs school serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

I have been giving sign language trainings to my co-workers for the past seven years. I have done all levels of signing.

I can handle all levels of signing abilities!!

My tutoring methods are fun and easy to understand. I like to come up with different games to help my students understand new signs!! I really believe if you have fun learning a language the information is easier to retain!

Please feel free to contact me if you need assistance in learning ASL!!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have a BA in Elementary and Special Education and a MA degree in Education. For the past eight years I have worked in a special needs classroom that serves a wide range of disabilities such as deaf/hard of hearing, Autism, ADHD, ADD, and other special needs as well. I also have experience working one on one with adults with Autism doing ABA therapy and DDT. If you find my qualifications satisfying, I would love to work with your child to help them reach their full potential. My tutoring methods are fun and easy to understand.

Sign Language

I am qualified to tutor sign language because I am fully immersed in it. Since I was seven years old, I have been using sign language. I currently teach a deaf and hard of hearing classroom and I sign at home as well because I am hard of hearing. Also, at my job I give sign language trainings every couple of months to make sure the staff in the building know how to sign the basic 250 word list.

Teach what you love — My 13 year old son had his first sign lesson with Daniel last night. Daniel clearly enjoys teaching and made it fun for my son to learn. He is courteous, knowledgable and friendly, with lots of positive energy. At the end of the session, my son showed us what he had learned. For the rest of the evening, he was smiling from ear to ear:) He is very excited for his next lesson! ...
