Saint Francis University (Elementary Education)
Teaching has always been my passion. I love seeing the excitement in a student's eyes when they achieve something he/she has been working towards. I graduated cum laude from Saint Francis University in Loretto Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary and special education. During college I worked with at risk students in the university reading clinic. After graduating I worked as a middle special education teacher in language arts for three years. I am currently a fifth grade teacher in the Charles county public school district. I am interested in providing some extra help to some struggling students.
I do ask for two hours notice of cancellation but I am flexible about makeup sessions.

Phonics and reading go hand in hand and my background in special education has provided me with the unique experience of working with students of all reading levels and abilities. While teaching middle school I taught the Wilson reading intervention as well as leveled literacy intervention which begins with basic phonics and builds to reading the written word.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
