I have tutored on and off ever since I was in high school. These were mostly unofficial positions, but I always liked trying to help my friends or others learn and overcome any hindrances they may have had. I was a math tutor some during Junior and Senior year of high school. I have also tutored in college as well, for one year in my university, and then for middle school students as part of my Education program at UMBC. Additionally, I taught in an after school program at Violetville Elementary/Middle school in Baltimore City for one semester and was responsible for preparing lessons and the other material for each week. I also taught in a before and after school program directly through Carroll County Public Schools for several months while my schedule permitted.
Learning is my passion and that is why I want to become a teacher and why I love tutoring. I love learning and helping other people learn and get excited about learning. I am someone who enjoys going to my college classes every day. I hope to help you get excited for learning.
I am currently a student at UMBC (University of Maryland - Baltimore County) studying History (degree) and Secondary Education (degree, certification program). I will also have a minor in Judaic Studies. My passions are American History, European History, 1900 to 1950 World History, and Israeli/Jewish History. While the above listed areas are my areas of greater interest, I am also pretty versed in Asian and other histories. I also have experience in government and politics as American and European history focuses a lot on these topics. I also went to Carroll Community College for 2 years and received my Associates Degree, with a heavy dose of history classes included.
I would love to help if you need help and I can also give studying tips and show better ways to read and conduct research in the future. Feel free to contact me! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played baseball and watched baseball my whole life. I played through Little League consistently and now I play club baseball at UMBC. I never really pitched, but I can work on hitting and fielding mechanics for sure. I prefer using an actual field, but do not mind using the batting cages or whatever you are comfortable with.
I am a Christian and have gone to church my whole life and am very versed in the Bible. I have almost completed a Judaic Studies minor that focuses on the Hebrew Bible. I am a leader in Campus Crusade for Christ on my campus.
