About Deron

I tutor undergraduate Accounting students, specializing in Financial Accounting 1 and 2, and Intermediate Accounting 1 and 2. On a case-by-case basis, I tutor upper-level accounting courses. I also teach in group settings at discounted rates.

My second specialty is Intro to Statistics, I've helped dozens of students for hundreds of hours in this subject.

For one-on-one sessions, I offer completely individualized tutoring - according to to my student's strengths and weaknesses. You'll find that I have a unique ability to assess your knowledge gaps and develop ways to close those gaps.

I have more than 6 years' experience in bank regulation with the Federal Reserve and FDIC. My experience in teaching adults includes successfully preparing several colleagues for testing and courses in bank regulation and creating on-the-job training manuals for co-workers.

I've earned a Bachelor's in Finance from SUNY Old Westbury(GPA:3.65), and I've also earned 33 credits in a Graduate Economics Program with a 3.3 GPA. I have completed the Praxis II Test for Business Education and achieved a score of 193 out of 200 (95th percentile).

Thanks for reading my profile and I hope I'll be making you a better student soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I have broad and deep experience in Business. I earned a B.S. in Finance with a 3.64 GPA and completed 33 graduate credits in Economics with a 3.33 GPA. I have 6+ plus years work experience in business and banking regulation. The firms I have worked for include: the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the FDIC, and the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. At those firms I mastered the necessary concepts to become an asset to the organization. My duties on the job included working within a team to examine state-chartered banks; performing thorough risk analysis of six key categories: Capital Adequacy, Asset Quality, Management, Earnings, Liquidity, and Sensitivity to Market Risk; and presenting findings to Examiner in Charge as well as appropriate bank executives.
