This is my 13th year teaching Mathematics and I have been exposed to several challenges along the way. Within my first two years of teaching, I taught Geometry to a hearing-impaired student and a visually-impaired student. During that time, in addition to teaching Mathematics, I taught one class of Spanish 1. I have taught and tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Integrated Math, and Pre-Calculus. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a Charter school in the District, but I have also taught in Prince George's County and a private school in the District of Columbia. I have helped students pass state-mandated exams and assisted college-bound students with entrance and placement exam preparation. I would welcome the opportunity to assist you, or your child with the exciting world of Mathematics.

My daughter, who normally hates Math is now gaining a great appreciation for it due to Darees' teaching style and continued patience.
As a parent, I couldn't be more pleased with Darees. She is committed to my daughter's success. The lesson was to be on a Saturday at the library but consequently we had a horrific snow storm! Instead of canceling the lesson altogether, Darees offered to do the lesson remotely. Since my daughter was desperate for help with her homework, they used email, text messaging and photos to get the work done and done correctly. That to me was going above and beyond! Kudos Darees!!!!
I really need to tell you about Ms. Darees because she really is something special. My son is studying geometry. Ms. Darees evaluated him and discovered the underlying problem was a weakness in algebra, so she helped him strengthened those skills which allowed him to understand the geometry lesson. She even gave him homework to do so that they could go over on their next visit. I'm lovin' it!
Fast forward several weeks after tutoring with Ms. Darees. My son went from geometry scores of 28% to 95%. When I tell you Ms. Darees is someone very special, BELIEVE IT!! She really cares and takes time encouraging and guiding the student until they can do it on their own. Parents, I know you will get this metaphor: it literally reminded me of when I was a little girl and my dad was teaching me to ride a bike holding the back and handle bars running along side me until I was able to balance it and ride by myself. I really love her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching Algebra 1 during the summer for over 10 years. This summer, I returned to high school to teach Algebra 1 freshmen, and I realized that they are missing the basic foundation to succeed in future math courses. I like to bridge the gap, so they feel confident about their procedures and their math self-esteem increases. I like my students to think "outside the box" and use their critical-thinking skills to solve mathematical problems.
I taught Algebra 2 in high school; this past school year, I tutored two clients in Algebra 2. I have two additional, returning clients who will be moving from Geometry to Algebra 2 this year and would like to keep me as a tutor. I have an extensive Algebra background and I pushed my students this year to explore Algebra 2 topics.
I have taught Geometry most of my mathematical career. I am familiar with the Geometry High School Assessment, which is no longer an assessment in PG county. Most of my clients come to me for Geometry tutoring because I am able to break it down into simplistic language. I have also taught Geometry to a visually-impaired student and a hearing-impaired student.
