For the past eleven years, I have been teaching students and helping them to realize their goals. I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, and I am certified to teach grades Preschool through Third. I have taught the following grades: kindergarten, first, third, prekindergarten and even preschool! This year I am teaching second grade! I have also tutored students in grades kindergarten through third in math and reading.
My approach to teaching is through hands on learning. Students need to manipulate their world in order to make sense of it. So through various manipulatives and/or real-life experiences students can move from the abstract to concrete. In addition, I make learning fun! My students love coming to my class and learning. They say it feels like a game, but the secret is that they are actually learning!
So if you want your scholar to be prepared for their road to college and beyond, I can help get them there. If you want learning to be fun and exciting for them, I can do that. If you want to start tutoring sessions today, I am your tutor! Does your young scholar need help in understanding place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication or division? Does your young scholar struggle with reading, reading comprehension, writing and … Read more
Ms. Archella has been working with my two children for one year. Within that one year my children have greatly improved beyond measures. Her passion and wealth of educational knowledge has been demonstrated in how she structures her lesson for both children. She is a very creative instructor, using a multitude of props to teach reading and math. She also takes the initiative to contact the teachers to get an understanding of their objectives, so that she may formulate some of her lesson plans to maximize full growth for the child's educational development. My children look forward to seeing her. They enjoy her presence and makes sure her work is done before their next tutoring lesson. Ms. Archella is well worth your money. Don't hesitate to hire her, if you want your child to exceed in their education.
Ms. Archella is persistent and committed to the student's growth and understanding. Being patient, Archella breaks down the process so reading makes sense.
Ms. Archella is absolutely amazing at what she does. Her patience, dedication, and just overall positive attitude not only made her a perfect match for my now six year old, but for me as well. Even through a few miscommunications and schedule conflicts (on my part) Ms. Archella was willing to work with us no matter what. I now sense a new attitude and confidence in my child, when it comes to her school work, that definitely wasn't there prior to meeting Ms. Archella. She assured me that she would help my daughter and get her where she needed to be, and she has done that and more. Parents like me who need assistance and want the best tutor for their child, pray for people and educators like Ms. Archella. She really is amazing!!!
We are happy to have her working with us and our daughter. She learns from the information provided and tailored lessons to meet our child's needs.
Archella has exceeded my hopes in finding a good match for my student. She has a program that is consistent and fun. It is very important to have creative ways to challenge a three year old. We are very, very pleased.
There is nothing more important than my children's education. I am elated to find someone I can trust to help me develop a plan for their educational future. Archella is amazing and easy to work with. I've never seen my son so excited to learn, and he loves the days he has tutoring with Archella. Thanks so much for all your hard work and I look forward to our continued partnership.
Miss Archella is very professional, very patient and a fun loving person to be around. She is always on task, helped my two boys greatly during the school year and also prepared my third grader for the MSA testing.
I am very proud to say that both my boys are high honour roll students through the help of Ms Archella and for this my family is very grateful and we look forward to seeing you next school year.
Thank you very much for all your hard work.
She is very creative in her lesson and keeps her student attentive throughout the lesson. Ms Archella is also very patient. She makes the lesson very interesting therefore making it easy for her student to remember the lessons.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The approach to teaching elementary science is one of inquiry and discovery through investigations and observations. The focus is on life, earth and physical science domains where students will learn through hands-on explorations.
I have taken and passed the following Praxis exams; Praxis I, Praxis 0021 and Praxis 0014. All of the above exams have led me to a certification in Early Childhood Education and Highly Qualified status with DC Public Schools.
Reading is comprised of five areas; phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, phonics and fluency.
