About Sean

I choose to tutor because I love the sense of pride and confidence that my students get when they finally master that one tricky concept, or solve that tough homework problem. As a student Physics and Math did not come easily to me, so to compensate I have to work extra hard and develop strategies for learning and applying the information that I was being taught in class. This allows me to teach with a unique perspective because I can relate to a student that struggles with a particular subject, and it lets me pass down the strategies and methodologies that I've developed for myself to help my students progress.

I specialize in teaching basic Physics (Physics I, II, and III), Astronomy, and Basic/Collegiate Mathematics. I also teach more specialized branches of physics (Mechanics, Optics, Astrophysics). I currently work at Towson University as a Learning Assistant were I tutor enrolled students in Physics and Math.

My goal for each session with my students is to either try and decode the information that you were given in class. While also teaching not only the "how" of doing Math or Physics, but the "why" as well. I firmly believe that if I can teach a student to think about Math and Physics the right way, any student can work through any future problem that they may encounter. This doesn't mean that students won't ever get stuck, but, as a tutor, my goal is to equip each student with the mindset and tools to make sure that they are never completely lost in their subject.

I am available for sessions during the week, generally in the evenings but exceptions can be worked out if you contact me. My current rate is $50/hour for an in person session of $40/hour for an online session. I am more than willing to travel to students or meet them online. I also have access to wonderful learning space on the campus of Towson University.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you ace that class!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
