In 2015, I began my residency as a Capitol Teaching Resident, which speared headed my career in Education. I developed a passion for teaching in order to provide students with an adequate and equitable education. This work inspired me to pursue higher education to gain more formalized experience working with students while shaping and forming education. I will be receiving a Masters of Teaching in Elementary and Inclusive Education from Trinity University this upcoming fall. This course of study lends me the opportunity to research applied theories in the strategies of teaching under the instruction of highly qualified instructors. In my program, I have gained valuable field experience through learning activities, peer collaboration, and lastly by growing my practice with four years of classroom instruction with a heavy emphasis on students in urban settings and with working with students who are English Language Learners. In addition, I received formal training in workshops in conventional settings, which entail training within and outside of the school setting. I am highly skilled in using research-based methods in order to drive instruction.

Presently, as a third-grade math teacher and team leader, I fulfill my passion of working with students in order to educate them to compete nationally with other scholars. In this position, I have use NWEA MAP, formative and summative assessments coupled with best instructional practices in order to prepare students for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). At this point in my career, I have instructed grades 1st through 3rd implementing various curricula such as CGI, CKLA, Engage NY/Eureka Math, Journeys, My Math, and Reader's Workshop. In order to best serve students inclusively, I create weekly lesson plans that focus on students, below, at and above grade level in order to ensure that students feel successful.
