Salisbury University (History)
There are very few things I am more passionate about than learning and discussing and teaching history and social studies. Whether it is American History, world history, geography, religion, culture, government, civilization, or geography, I love it all. I am excited about any opportunity I may have to help someone learn, and appreciate this subject matter.
I have a degree in History and Secondary Education, and graduated Magna cum Laude from Salisbury University, Salisbury, MD in 1992. I taught high school for a number of years - AP History, World History, US History, Social Studies - but I chose to follow a different career path in the business world and keep my love of history and social studies as a hobby. Since then I have been studying history in my spare time, and helping friends and family with school work as needed, I am always the first one to be contacted when someone needs help in these areas. After helping my own children with their homework for a number of years, I realized how talented I am in this area, and how much I enjoyed helping others, so I have been pursuing work as a professional tutor to work in an area that I truly love.
I believe my excellent communications skills, vast topical knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject matter will convey a mastery of any subject pertaining to history and social studies.
I hold myself to a high standard, and for that reason I am always asking for feedback and testing for understanding. Complete satisfaction is my goal, anything short of that I will not bill for my time.
I try to be flexible with my time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I do offer make-up classes.
I prefer to teach in the comfort of the student's home; however, if necessary, I can make arrangements to conduct a session in my office in Sparrows Point, MD, or travel to another location that is preferred by the student.
Please consider me for any help you may need in the subjects of history or social studies. I am goal oriented and enjoy seeing my students achieve success! Please don't hesitate to call me to set an appointment, or for any questions you may have.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
