If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As a nationally-known award-winning professional artist, I have taught drawing successfully since 1995. I teach ages 11 through seniors, beginners to advanced in all traditional subjects. I have taught for art centers, The Community College of Baltimore, The Baltimore County Adult Education Program and my own art school. Some of my students have gone on the gain admission to art, animation or architectural college programs after training with me. Also, some of my students have won awards or art school scholarships. I teach drawing in a step wise fashion based on learning simple shapes first, how to shade and then advancing as the student is able. I analyze the bio-mechanics of drawing and show the student how to best position themselves and move their body, shoulder, arm and hand to make lines, shape and angles in a more natural comfortable and easier way. I also employ a scientifically-proven method to help the student use the artistic or right side of the brain to do art naturally and successfully. i also utilize proven methods for teaching drawing that are a step by step, easy-to-understand method of breaking complex subjects down into easier to draw shapes using a combination of basic shapes, main lines, helpful guidelines and breaking things down into even sections to get proper proportions and placement of elements in their their subjects.. My students like to call these "tricks of the trade" and are amazed at how much easier this makes it for them to draw what otherwise confounds them. Using an upbeat enthusiasm and sense of humor, my students say they enjoy their classes and look forward to coming.
