University of Maryland, College Park (Studio Art, Public H)
I have taught art to students of various ages for two years at Colesville Child Center (CCC). In college, I have student-taught classes in Painting and Photography, both focusing on practice and concepts. I can teach abstract as well as realistic painting.
I believe the arts can help enrich quality of life, as they can be the building blocks for strong communities. I love that as a tutor I can be part of someone's creative growth and help them see the power in art.
My experience of teaching art to 20 middle- and elementary-school students at CCC for two years has strengthened this belief in art as a means of intellectual growth for all ages, especially children. At CCC, I independently designed the art curriculum, supervised the arts program, managed class schedules, engaged students in exciting creative projects, and included a cultural component to introduce them to learn about other parts of the world. I also monitored volunteers that dedicated their time to help at the center.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! I would love to meet you and make great art with you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
