I am an innately curios person and, as a result, I have developed a love of learning. My love of teaching is an extension of that fact. As a college student currently working on completing my Bachelor's degree I know that schoolwork and learning new subjects can be difficult and challenging, but I love helping students of all ages through those tough spots. Whether it's watching a mathematical concept finally click, helping a student memorize a definition, or helping them achieve a goal they thought was out of reach, I find true joy in the tutoring process. This past year, helping to tutor elementary students in an after school program called Homework Club further solidified in my mind how much I love to help others learn.
I am a General Studies tutor. I can provide help and assistance with a wide variety of areas and subjects from math to spelling. I can also provide tutoring for more than one subject or area within one session. My goal for each session is to always keep the student engaged and focused. I have found that frustration can be mistaken for disinterest, so I strive to keep students interested while pushing them further. Years of babysitting experience has taught me to recognize when a younger student needs to be pushed a little further or needs a small break to be productive. I decide to assign homework assignments on an individual basis. I base this on the subjects being covered, how well the student is progressing, and the work load assigned from school. If homework assignments are given it is meant to keep the concepts covered fresh in the mind of the student and to give the student a chance to review and practice before the next session.
I hold myself to a high standard and for that reason, I appreciate your feedback. I am flexible with my time. I do have a 2-hour cancellation policy but I offer makeup sessions at the convenience of the student. I look forward to hearing from you and doing all that I can to help achieve success in your studies! I am an innately curios person and, as a result, I have developed a love of learning. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
