About William

I have BS, MS, and PhD in Electrical Engineering. I am a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer DC and MD. I have taught Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science at University, Graduate School, Community College, High School, and Professional levels. I have tutored preparation for tests such as GRE and SAT. I have taught preparation courses for Professional Engineering tests. I have taught professional level seminars in statistics.

I have volunteered to tutor reading and mathematics. I have volunteered to be Grand Award Judge for the Intel International Science Fair in Engineering for many years. I am a Mensa member and enjoy seeing others learn.

I have applied mathematics throughout my career as an Electrical Engineer. I have published papers applying integral calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and finite mathematics. Over thirty plus years of teaching part time, I have taught many levels of mathematics courses including Algebra, Trigonometry, PreCalculus, Calculus, Differential Equations, Vector Calculus, Boolean Algebra, Statistics, Probability, Operations Research, and Arithmetic.

I have taught many levels of student from remedial arithmetic learners to technical graduate students. Any learner, including myself, faces the same challenges at any level of acquiring new knowledge. There is no greater pleasure for me than to share in another persons positive learning experience.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

I hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering and am registered Professional Engineer in DC (PE900480) and MD (40147). Differential equations are the working descriptive language for electrical circuits, electromagnetic fields, kinematics, etc in engineering. Engineering requires mastery of several mathematics topics including differential equations, linear algebra, vector algebra and calculus, Laplace and Fourier Transforms, probability and statistics, etc. I have taught these and other courses at university, graduate, and professional levels. My MSEE thesis topic was "Analysis of a Cylindrical Electron Beam Lens". Involved numerical solutions to the Paraxial ray equation, a nonlinear partial differential equation with variable coefficients.

Electrical Engineering

I hold PhD in Electrical Engineering and am registered Professional Engineer in DC (PE900480) and MD (40147). I have taught test preparation courses for the engineering practice and professional engineering PE test.

Linear Algebra

I hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering and am registered Professional Engineer in DC (PE900480) and MD (40147). I am published in the area of linear algebra: "Synthesis of Finite State Algorithms in a Galois Field" (IEEE Transactions on Computers, Vol C-30, No.3) develops 2 theorems expressed in linear equations as matrices and Galois Fields.

SAT Math

PhD in Electrical Engineering. Have taught mathematics from remedial arithmetic to vector calculus and partial differential equations for more than 30 years. Have taught Test Preparation courses.
