About Lindsey

Lindsey wants to live on a planet where history and writing are prioritized, coffee comes from the kitchen tap, and an endless supply of macaroni and cheese.

I have a master's degree in Public History from the University of Central Florida, where I was a graduate student who looked forward to lecturing and holding office hours. As a former Teaching Assistant at UCF, I have helped hundreds of students perfect their history and writing skills through one-on-one office hours. With a background in history and leadership development, I can help you overcome any hurdles and help you develop the confidence needed to excel. I love engaging students and motivating them to learn and I am experienced in working with students from middle school through college.

We will work together to find the best method of learning. In our sessions, we will review your classroom materials and homework. I will provide instruction as needed. You'll develop the study skills and habits to be successful long after our sessions are complete.

We'll communicate openly so that you receive the most effective instruction possible. I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your path.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

I hold a Master's degree in American History from the University of Central Florida. During graduate school, I was a teaching assistant, responsible for working with students one-on-one in office hours, in addition to creating and delivering lectures. I've worked with students from middle school through college. I love helping people connect the past to the present in new and exciting ways!

Anthropology

I completed a bachelor's degree in anthropology in 2010 from the University of Central Florida. My studies focused on cultural anthropology as well as human evolution and human biological diversity. I used anthropology in my undergraduate thesis, which examined the use of symbols in various cultures.

European History

While I was a graduate student at the University of Central Florida, I was a teaching assistant for several European history classes. Time spent in these classes gave me a solid background in European history. I also spent time working with students one-on-one in office hours.

Government & Politics

I hold two degrees in American History, the study of which requires extensive understanding of American government and politics. Currently, I enjoy following local and federal politics.

Proofreading

I'm a proofreading junkie! Currently, I run a submissions-based media company, where I proofread as part of my daily tasks. In college, my peers and I often proofread one another's work. I would be happy to help you proofread your work or sharpen your red pen skills!

Social Studies

With an MA in history and BAs in History and Anthropology, I can help students with social studies. Examining subjects including, but not limited to: history, basic sociology and basic anthropology, and geography, we'll look at broad trends as well as regional habits. We can study cultures, histories, governments, laws and more.

Writing

I love to write! As the owner of a media company and blog, I write daily. During my college (undergrad and graduate) career, I perfected my academic writing through writing for classes as well as completing two theses. My graduate thesis was even nominated for a university-wide award. In my free time, I also enjoy blogging and writing for fun.
