I have been teaching Mandarin Chinese to non-native speakers for more than three years, most of my students are Americans and I also had students from Korea, Finland, Sweden, Japan, France and Spain. With ESL teaching experience since I was in high school, I have my unique way of instruction and teaching methods.
The students are the central of education is my teaching philosophy.
I taught college elementary level Chinese course in State University of New York at Binghamton from September, 2010 to May, 2012. I was responsible for classroom instruction, course preparation, grading and TA supervision. During the last semester(Spring, 2012) I was teaching in SUNY Binghamton, I was the course coordinator, coordinating the elementary Chinese courses, organizing and chairing weekly teachers and TAs meetings.
I was an intern Chinese instructor in the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts in Beijing, China from September, 2009 to June, 2010, responsible for course material development and classroom instruction. I also taught Chinese culture and especially daily dialogues in my classes, which were great success.
I also interned as Chinese one-on-one tutor in the Institute of Chinese Language and Culture in Beijing, China in June and July, 2009. Tutoring student elementary Chinese on 3 days per week 9 hours, I developed teaching materials and revised teaching methods which utilized in my practice successfully.
With a background of Intercultural Communication study, I work and get along well with people from different culture and language backgrounds.
