I was a chemistry major and math minor in college, and after that I received a Master's Degree in chemistry. Next, I taught general chemistry at local colleges/universities, so I'm very familiar with what that entails, but I can also help with organic chemistry. I'm currently teaching high school chemistry, both honors and AP. I've been "officially" tutoring since the start of the 2013-2014 school year. Hi everyone,

Mara is awesome and is very patient when I mess up on a problem! Best chemistry tutor I have had as she is a fellow AP Chemistry teacher herself so she has lots of experience teaching the subjects at hand already!
Tutoring was a new concept to my son, we sought out a tutor in order to improve his Chemistry grades. Ms. Mara has been the perfect fit for my son, she has been punctual, patient and knowledgeable. My son has been looking forward to the Saturday session, his confidence and grade has tremendously improved and I am very confident by end of school year my son will have a very good grade.
I would recommend her to anybody and I will surely use her again for my 10 year old in the future.
My daughter met with Mara for the first time and we felt that it was very beneficial already! Mara is tutoring her in A.P. Chemistry which is a very tough subject and has been frustrating to my daughter. In the hour they spent working, they got through a lot of concepts and made my daughter feel much more secure in her abilities. Very patient and understanding of issues. Can't wait to see how much better she does in Chemistry after a few more tutoring sessions.
Mara has done a great job in making a difficult subject easier to understand. I highly recommend her. She is very knowledgeable.
Mara has helped my daughter so much with Chemistry. She simplifies the complex concepts so that they are easy to understand. My daughter went from struggling to confident in Chemistry. She's maintaining an A average and has even been able help her friends in the class. We're so thankful to have found Mara. She's flexible and has been available when we need her. We would highly recommend Mara as a Chemistry tutor!
As we end the school year, we are so thankful we found Mara to help our daughter with Chemistry! Our daughter finished GT Chemistry with a high A average, thanks to Mara's excellent tutoring. The experience also really built her confidence. With the support that Mara provided, she was able to understand the subject matter and perform well in class and on tests. Mara is an excellent tutor!
Mara was everything I needed her to be. She helped me with college Chem 101. Not only did she make the material easy to understand, she gave me good advice that I can apply with problems going forward. Thank You, Mara!
Mara was terrific! Appointment was set in the same week I contacted her. She was on time and very personable. She helped my high school child -in an hour- understand what had been baffling her in chemistry for two months. Will definitely use her again.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BA and MS in chemistry. I've been an adjunct for General Chemistry at local universities, and I've been teaching high school chemistry (honors and AP) and have tutored in chemistry since the start of the 2013-2014 school year.
