Math

Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

Tutoring in advanced applied mathematics. I provide a clear understanding of characteristics and approach to solution of all types of differential equations and approach to solutions. Typical types of equations are: Ordinary Differential Equations constant coefficients periodic coefficients General Linear Equations Systems of Ordinary differential Equations Partial Differential Equations via separation of variables Fourier Series solutions Other Harmonic Function solutions (Hilbert Transforms, etc) Boundary value problems Eigenvalue problems Application of Linear Algebra (Vectors and Matrices) to solutions of Differential Equations Application of Linear Algebra to characterize equations
Discrete Math,

Discrete Math

Working consulting scientist and former adjunct professor at Drexel University and Villinova University in Pennsylvania. Work with advanced mathematical techniques and applications of those techiques to engineering problems. If you want a clear and concise explanation of various discrete mathematics topics and applications, I am your tutor. Selected areas of discrete mathematics: Set Theory Group Theory Vector Spaces Linear Algebra Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors Metric Spaces Banach and Hilbert Spaces Tensors etc If you do not see the topic you are looking for here, contact me with your area of interest and I will let you know if I can help you.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra is the study of vectors, matrices, tensors, etc. associated with a coordinate system (Cartesian-Euclidean, cylindrical, spherical, curve-linear, etc.). Central to the theme of linear algebra is the concept of linear transformation. I am a consulting scientist in the Washington DC area and use linear algebra in my daily work to characterize and solve multi-dimensional problems. I studied linear algebra at the Case Institute of Technology and have tutored a number of college students in Matrices and Linear Algebra. I have also tutored students in the application of linear algebra to solving (1) systems of linear equations and (2) using linear algebra to solving complex, linear circuits.

Knowledgeable and helpful tutor.

Mr. Barry worked with me to break down and review the fundamentals of derivatives. Knowing this, it will allow me to apply that knowledge to problems and have a deeper understanding of how I got to my answer.

Katherine, 2 lessons with Barry

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Barry is a caring and thoughtful tutor who thoroughly teaches physics and makes sure that you understand what he has explained. He writes out the lesson and gives examples and then reviews at the end of each lesson everything that he covered in the session. His attention to detail is very helpful in understanding the concepts.

Amazing calculus tutor

Barry is tutoring me in calculus. I had been taught rules, which I tried to memorize, but didn't really understand. Barry has enabled me to understand WHY things work the way they do - and now that I understand WHY the rules are the rules, I won't forget them. He is very knowledgeable, nice, patient and clear.

Extraordinary Tutor

Barry is not only brilliant within his field but he understands the methodology of physics so well that he can break the content into smaller understandable parts for anyone to grasp clearly. He is a rare and gifted teacher. My daughter has a better grasp of her college physics class in just one tutoring session!!!

Physics Expert! Reliable and Dedicated!

My daughter is taking an intense five-week calculus based physics course this summer and wanted additional support in order to master the concepts and do well on the exams. After two lessons (6 hours), Barry has enabled her to go beyond memorizing the formulas and concepts to actually understanding and applying them. He has helped to increase her confidence level so that she feels more capable of solving problems. Additionally, Barry has taken the time to respond to her emails in between tutoring sessions. Barry is the best of the best!

Genuine, patient and SO knowledgeable!

Barry went above and beyond my and my son's expectations in tutoring. He spent his time patiently getting to know the needs of my son, to make sure that all the concepts made sense to him. His love of teaching genuinely comes through. My son, 16, said Barry is "the best." His knowledge of Physics is second to none!

My college age daughter was pleased

Barry met with my daughter while she was home on spring break and helped her catch up on second semester college physics. She was very pleased with the progress she made.

Amazing

Barry is so thoughtful and kind. He really took the time to explain the content not just how to get the answer - I look forward to working with him!
