About Daisy Han-Ying

Dr. Daisy, originally from Taiwan, has enjoyed a rich and diverse career as an active soloist, musician and teacher throughout North America and Asia. She is a classically trained singer, and she is a recent graduate of the Catholic University of America, where she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice performance. During her time there, she studied extensively with tenor Rick Christman and soprano Fabiana Bravo. In 2011 she received Graduate Performance Diploma at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in voice performance. Previously, she obtained Bachelor of Music degree and Master of Music degree from Taipei National University of America in voice performance.

Her past operatic performances include Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro), Despina (Così fan tutte), Laetitia (The Old Maid and the Thief) and Morgana (Alcina). Her spanning genres are from opera, art songs to contemporary style in multiple languages. Additionally, She is not only an enthusiastic musician but also a dedicated teacher with in-depth knowledge of music theory. Currently Ms. her students range from as young as 5-year-old to adults at all ability levels. With an interactive teaching style, she embraces different approaches to meet the individual needs of students’ various learning goals. Her teaching philosophy is that nothing is more important to make each student love music because it is a helpful way to unlock students’ full potential. Moreover, communication and trust between parents and teacher is a crucial part of teaching young students since she believes teaching is about building lasting relationships with each family. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. As an experienced voice/ piano instructor, I have developed a passion and personal commitment to helping my students succeed. I feel that my background as an educator is a perfect match for the open voice/ piano teacher position.

I successfully completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in voice performance at Catholic University of America, Washington DC, 2016. I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and dedicated professional music teacher with solid experience in the classroom. For the past three years, I have been employed at music studios to teach students of all ages. I also obtained Graduate Performance Diploma in voice performance at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, 2011.

Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. My empathy and interpersonal skills enable me to freely discuss any matter of concern with both students and parents of diverse social backgrounds. I've received positive feedback from parents and fellow educators alike for my abilities in the classroom. My teaching style demonstrates dedication to fostering a positive learning environment to all students and maximizing individual student performance.
