Boise State University (Economic and Chinese)
Hi, my name is Michael. I am very passionate about Chinese language, history, and culture. I've studied Mandarin Chinese for three years at Boise State University and have been studying the language on my own ever since. Starting in 2013 I spent a year and a half teaching English in Gansu Province, China. There I gained experience teaching students of all ages the English language. I also learned to speak Mandarin fluently, perfected my pronunciation, and can read and write both simplified and traditional characters.
I continue to enjoy studying new Chinese characters and read both simplified and traditional Chinese articles/comics. Recently I have found joy in passing along the knowledge I have learned. When teaching/tutoring I stress good pronunciation of the four tones and emphasize good writing habits. I can't wait for us to get started!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
