My name is Charles, and I was born and raised in Italy! I have traveled around the world and have lived in Italy for more than 13 years. I completed high school and post graduate studies in my country and have a certificate in electronics and telecommunications. My experience in tutoring all subjects is limited, but I have led study groups and studying sessions in the past when I was in school. In addition, because I have studied and spoken the Italian language my whole life, I feel as though I will have no problem at all at tutoring this wonderful language to anyone who needs assistance. My tutoring approach will be centered on the student’s weaknesses so that I may help correct them immediately from making further mistakes. I will also help the student with preparing for examinations and quizzes well in advance so that they maintain a study schedule that will adequately prepare them.
I aim to give all students equal opportunities and will put the students’ needs first. When I tutor, I will listen for mistakes that are grammatically incorrect in speaking and errors that are made in writing as well. Then I will offer exercises for the student that will give them even more practice in the areas that are deemed most crucial for success. I unfortunately do not have any applicable credentials other than having my certificate from Italy, but I am taking classes at my community college in an effort to reach out and attain as much knowledge as I can in order to obtain my degree. In the future, I plan on getting certified to tutor in certain subject areas such as foreign languages and specifically, Italian. I little bit about myself and what I do in my spare time: I love soccer and cooking and am a friendly person who is fun to interact with. My English speaking is still something that I am working on, but I am relatively coherent when I speak with others. I am happy to tutor anyone who needs help learning Italian and can assist with speaking, writing, and reading articles or understanding films as needed. I am happy to help however I can and look forward to working with anyone that is ready to improve their Italian!

Charles is great to work with. He has been easy to contact, is reliable and timely. I like that he is always very polite and has a steady personality displaying patience and attention to detail. His lessons are consistently good and are definitely helping me improve.
Whilst I still struggle to speak, I am making progress because I feel more confident with my knowledge of verbs in present, past, and now future tenses. Charles gave me some ideas for getting more exposure to spoken Italian on the radio and in films so I have research to do this week. Unless, the subject is something I haven't covered, I can pick out words I know in spoken Italian, but I don't always understand full sentences. Unfortunately, my brain at 50, works slower than a teenager's. Charles does need to articulate his words and slow down for me. All in all though, I am very happy - we are doing well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
