Moray House College of Education, U.K
ECOLE NORMALE SUPERIEURE Antananarivo-MADAGASCAR (Master's)
My name is Eulalie. I have extensive experience tutoring /teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language as well as French to students of all ages. I prefer to teach a minimum of 2 students at a time to allow for great group dynamics conducive to effective and lasting learning. I have 38 5-Star WYZANT ratings from verified clients. In 2014, I passed the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) Writing and Speaking tests - respectively at the SUPERIOR (highest) and ADVANCED HIGH levels.
I have a graduate-level certificate in the Teaching of English as a Second or Foreign Language from Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh, UK - and hold the equivalent of a BED in the same discipline from a 5-year course of studies at "Ecole Normale Supérieure” in Antananarivo-Madagascar. In addition, I received a TESOL Certificate (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages) through a certification program provided by the TESOL Institute through 2013. All three courses of studies delved into key areas of language teaching, including Second Language Acquisition, assessment principles and methods of teaching reading, speaking, writing, listening, and conversation skills.
Even if my major at the Teacher-training College was English and French was only a minor, French is near-native to me as my native country Madagascar used to be a French colony. The "langue de Molière" was the medium of instruction from 1st grade to college and on top of this, I grew up in a community of French and French-speaking expatriates. I made frequent visits to France and studied international relations in French abroad, including at the “Institut de Hautes Etudes Internationales,” or “Graduate School of International Studies” in Geneva, Switzerland. I hold certificates in business courses from Harvard Business School in Massachusetts and the Judge Business School in Cambridge-UK.
I learned about major approaches and trends in language teaching but – based on personal experience – I usually adopt an eclectic approach tailored to meet the specific needs of each learner. In addition, the ability to reach across cultures also enables me to comfortably interact with diverse people. As a matter of fact, I have lived/studied in/visited a large number of countries over four continents and collaborated with people from various countries and cultural/linguistic backgrounds for years.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
