I am a pharmacist and worked as a staff and supervisor at the hospital for 8 years.
I am very passionate about math and teaching. Even though I have a strong science background, I decided to direct my tutoring to math because I believe that a higher level of excellence can be achieved when the scope of my teaching is more focused.
Also, I love to work with younger students, so I enjoy teaching elementary students in all subjects.
As a tutor, I go beyond the confines of academics and encourage my students to get involved in extracurricular activities as much as possible to help foster a well-rounded education.
I realize that every student learns differently, so I am skilled in explaining new concepts at his or her own pace and in different ways.
Through patience, enthusiasm, and excellence, my goal as an educator is not only to help raise my students' grades but also to instill in them an equaled passion to mine for learning and seeking knowledge for themselves. Angie is a no-nonsense type of tutor. Upon our first meeeting, she told me her goal was for my daughter to earn an A in Geometry. Angie has been flexible with her timings, based by on my daughter's test schedule. Thanks to Angie, we are earning a solid A in this challenging class. So grateful. Highly recommend!
Angie reviewed my son's entire Honors geometry packet - most of all proof problems were incorrect and had to do them again and went over the quadrilaterals - parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, square- their properties and diagonals. Also my son learned how to find the length of diagonals with variables. He learned the properties of isosceles triangles - constructing the isosceles triangle, bisecting the vertex angle, and finding the angle measure, etc. He learned a lot of geometry concepts and did well in lesson.
Angie is wonderful-patient and a pleasure to work with. Our son had immediate positive results on his 6th grade math exam after just one tutoring session with Angie.
She has given my granddaughter a much better understanding of the math concepts at her school and giver her more confidence in her learning skills.
Angie has been working with my 13 year old daughter for a month to help her with pre-algebra, and my daughter is making great progress. Angie is a true professional and always arrives on time and ready to get right to work. She approaches the subject in a patient and encouraging manner and is understanding when my daughter struggles with a concept or makes mistakes. She looks through the work my daughter has from school and also leaves some "homework" after each visit to help reinforce what was learned. I've been very happy with Angie's tutoring.
We requested that our third grader begin lessons with Angie after her teacher let us know she was struggling with math. After just a few lessons, we've received a note from the teacher that our child "is making great progress in math. She is really getting fractions!" We're so happy to hear this, and know we have Angie to thank. She looked carefully at our child's schoolwork and progress reports and focused her tutoring on the trouble spots, while also assigning more general homework to help reinforce general math concepts. I only wish she tutored in reading, as well, so we could see the same gains!
Ms Angie is a great tutor! I was struggling in dosage calculations (med math) and she showed me so many ways that I could understand the question. Once we spent two hours together and my knowledge started getting better. She taught me how to read the question and how to understand the question...I'm so glad that she helped me I passed my dosage exam with a 100%... my instructor was very impressed...so if you are struggling in dosage calc I suggest Angie be the person you can run to.
Nice personality, knowledgable in the subject matter. Always prepared when she comes. I am very pleased with her. She is a very good teacher, always on time. My son is very focused and always looking forward to seeing his tutor. I will highly recommend her to any parents.
Angie has been working with my sixth grader for a few months now. He has ADHD and finds math to be particularly challenging, but he has made improvements this year with her help. Angie not only works with him on current math assignments, but takes the time to work with him on fundamentals from previous years that he never quite mastered. It can be difficult for him to concentrate, but Angie manages to keep him focused and attentive for an hour.
She is always punctual and communicates well with both my son and me. I'm so happy to have her as my son's math tutor and highly recommend her.
Angie is an outstanding tutor who excels at both group and individual tutoring. She is very patient and knows exactly how to maximize each child's learning experience.
I am very pleased with Angie. Right away I can tell that she would be a good fit for my daughter. She is very patient and very observant. She was able to assess my daughter's needs and communicate them to me accordingly. My daughter seems to like her as well. I truly believe that she will be of a great help to my daughter! We will make a wonderful team!
Angie came for the first time to meet with my daughter on Algebra I and she was very focused and thorough. I think she will be a great fit for my daughter who is trying to move up to Honors math.
Angie knows exactly how to tutor Math SAT. She is very motivational while expecting a high level of effort at the same time.
Angie is very patient and good at explaining concepts. She is also very punctual. On the first day, she got to know my daughter and very quickly grasped her areas of weakness. The more she works with my daughter, I see the light bulbs go off in her head because she is beginning to understand basic math concepts. I see my daughter's confidence and excitement in learning math increasing. So far, Angie is the perfect match for us.
She explains things patiently. She had been punctual in all appointments. She also helped in getting review materials on short notice.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience teaching students with ADD/ADHD as well as a medical background and thorough understanding of what they are going through. I am very patient and know how to help them work efficiently. I am able to teach concepts and material in ways that accommodate to them. I am also able to teach them necessary study and organizational skills that will help them in accomplishing their goals.
I taught my two children at home in all subjects throughout elementary school, and they are both successful high school students. I am familiar with the MCPS curriculum. Not only do I teach academic subjects, but also I guide students in time management skills and encourage them to be involved in extracurricular activities, including music, art, sports, clubs, and school teams.
I am very precise in evaluating and assessing each individual student to figure out their own pace of learning. I understand that some learn better visually, while others learn better with hands-on activities, so after determining the best way to help the student, I will be able to choose the best way to help them reach their full potential. I have a strong passion for educating and have joy in spreading knowledge to eager young students.
I am very patient; if the student is not able to understand a concept the first time, I will try as many more times as it takes until he/she fully understands the material. I am also very flexible in my schedule, and I am willing to adjust my schedule to fit the student's needs. I believe I am fully qualified and strongly motivated to teach.
I am a pharmacist who has worked at the hospital as a staff and assistant director. I hold a pharmacy degree and have taught students in preparation for the math and science sections of the PCAT. I also have experience teaching students in preparation for the pharmacy technician board certification exam. With my extensive experience as a pharmacist and my strong science background, I have a special passion for teaching aspiring pharmacists and nurses.
I am able to teach students of all grade levels important study skills to be successful in school with good time management, test-taking strategies, and note-taking strategies. I believe these skills will help students maximize their potential in school and excel in all subjects while being able to continue to be involved in extracurricular activities.
