I am a native Russian speaker and certified teacher of English and Russian as a foreign language.
I have been teaching English and Russian for more than 20 years.
I am proud of my students who successfully passed language exams.
Some of them have also become teachers or translators/interpreters. I am a native Russian speaker and certified teacher of English and Russian as a foreign language.

Alisa is an outstanding Russian tutor, and I am very pleased to have found her through WyzAnt. She works with each student to tailor lessons to his or her specific interests and abilities. She brings many years of teaching experience to the table, not to mention boundless energy and enthusiasm. Alisa also breathes life into the language by discussing cultural topics and literature, and her perspectives greatly enhanced my studies. I was also fortunate to have sampled her delicious borsht! I highly recommend her services.
She is patient and willing to work with the student on the project they need. Be willing to make your own schedule and be determined to self study too.
Trying to learn more Russian before travel to Moscow for 3 weeks. I learned much from Alisa, who had incredible patience and was always able to make her schedule work. I very strongly recommend her without any reservations.
Alisa is an extremely proficient tutor of Russian who not only understands the Russian language as it compares to English but also the art of how to get her students to grasp the knowledge that she is giving them. Her sessions are very demanding and can be difficult, but the time spent with her is always guaranteed to be quality time. Alisa is a tough teacher with high standards, and she will relentlessly pound information into your head. Sometimes I left after a two hour session feeling as if I had been hit by a train, but because of it I picked up on Russian extremely quickly, and now after learning Russian for less than a year I can hold a decent conversation at a dinner table. Many Russians that I have spoken to have been very impressed with both my proficiency and accent, and have even told me that i currently speak with better grammar than some other Russians they know.
Alisa not only helped me to understand Russian language and culture, but also helped me to fall in love with their cuisine. She makes an excellent Borsch, and will not tolerate you leaving her sessions hungry.
You are guaranteed to leave her with a full mind and a full stomach.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Before moving to the USA last year I had been teaching English for more than 20 years in Georgia (Former Soviet Union) and Russia. My students successfully passed exams. Some of them have chosen the English language as their major at Universities. Some are now working for international organizations.
