Hi, my name is Heidi. I am a professionally certified elementary school teacher in three states and have been teaching for the past 20 years in the D.C. metro area. I have a bachelors degree and two masters degrees, all in elementary education. My experience teaching in the Montgomery County school system has given me an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the standards-based curriculum that students are challenged with every day. Through my broad experience as a classroom teacher I have gained a sensitivity toward the unique learning styles of elementary school students and developed strategies that make learning fun. I take a personal interest in the success of each student and every one receives my individualized attention. How important is your child's education?

Our son has taken to Heidi, who is the personification of patience! During the moments that he enters "entertaining mode" and acted like a typical 7 year old, she remained even-keel and got him back on track. With her 20+ years of teaching experience, we are completely comfortable handing the reigns over to her. We are only 3 visits in but feel like she is going to be the patient, steady hand that helps our son to catch up in reading and creative writing.
It was a wonderful first meeting and Heidi came well prepared for any possible scenario and was more than able to quickly make an assessment of our child's capability and plan for next steps. We are thrilled to have an opportunity to work with her!
I would highly recommend Heidi. Katie flourishes under her guidance in a way that allows her to become a better reader, thinker and able to verbalize and comprehend the context. Thank you so much!!
Heidi is a good, patient tutor. My son likes her, and he has gotten big progress in his reading in a short term! Recommended strongly!
Heidi connects with my daughter really well and has helped her tremendously with her reading skills and fluency. My daughter always complains about going and leaves with a beaming smile. Heidi has made my life a lot easier!!
Heidi is very engaged during the lessons and keeps them interesting. I am very happy with my choice as Heidi as my son's tutor.
Heidi has been teaching our daughter on a weekly basis. She is a great tutor who can adapt to our daughter's needs. She is able to focus on her weaknesses and provide clear explanations. The one on one sessions allow her to spend the necessary time on every subject she covers.
Our daughter not only progresses in her knowledge of the English language but she also enjoys the time she spends with Heidi.
We have been recommending Heidi to our friends and other parents looking for support in English. She is a great teacher who has patience and enjoys passing on her knowledge.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
