Bio

I would love to spread the sewing bug to a new generation. I can walk you through a project. Start with something simple like PJ pants and work up to more advanced. I could come up with simple projects to get you started. Teaching a small group of about six children would be good. Or just teaching one on one and working at your pace.

Sewing

I have been sewing as a job for most of my life. I have worked as a tailor for over 30 years. I was a 4H leader for a sewing club for several years. And enjoyed teaching my club to sew. I have also run a few sewing Saturdays for the children in my county. And personally tutored a girl who was in my club and had advanced beyond what her mom could help her with. I taught her how to install zippers and finish a professional hem on prom gowns. And most recently helped her with some glitches she had with her tailored jacket. She went from being so frustrated she wanted to throw it away to being proud of her finished jacket. Enough to enter it in the State Fair and fashion review. I haven't done much teaching of adults except in my job as a tailor. They were people that already knew how to sew but I just showed them how to do a professional alteration or the way the shop wanted it done. Since sewing seems to be a dying art I want to teach others. I try to keep up with current trends and continue to learn new things myself.
