I was a practicing attorney for more than 20 years in Montgomery County, Maryland. During this time, I owned my own law firm requiring me to become very organized and client oriented. However, my insatiable interest in reading, writing, research, and current events helped me to realize my desire to change careers and become an educator. To further this endeavor, I earned a second Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland in History. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Maryland.
My number one priority as a tutor is the success of my students. My definition of success is to make learning appropriately rigorous -- challenging enough, but not so tough that students get frustrated and stop trying -- and have students show visible growth in their progress.
I specialize in all areas of Social Studies as well as researching and writing essays. I firmly believe that the ability to communicate subject matter is just as important as understanding its intricacies.
I am flexible with time; however, I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy. When possible, I offer makeup classes. I am available to work 12 months of the year, 7 days a week from 7am until 8pm.
I will work with you online or travel to your home or a nearby coffee shop or library so long as you live within 10 miles from my home office location.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
