About Robert

ESOL Veteran going strong for 12 years +

Hello. My dear future student, I look forward to meeting you online so I can teach you beginner level English and more. I have a feeling you might want to learn how to speak in different situations like ordering food at a restaurant, or buying bus, plane, or train tickets.
Maybe you want to speak at a party. If so, I can teach you all of that and more. Through listening to others speak, reading their dialogue, and using target vocabulary for different social situations you can learn quickly how to talk and express your opinion. At the end of each lesson, you will talk using your new vocabulary and you’ll pretend you are in a real live conversation.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I've been teaching ESOL for 12 years and I've developed lesson plans. Used visual displays, audio programs, and literary works as educational aids in my classroom. I taught introductory level of American Channel course curriculum.
Constructed activities and lessons for reading/writing/grammar speaking/listening comprehension. Also, Graded Placement Test, developed midterm exams, and administered midterm and final exams.

Moreover, I have experience in using the communicative approach. By using the communicative approach, I have been able to demonstrate to non-English speaking students how to communicate in English for numerous social situations such as ordering food at a restaurant, being at an airport, train station, party, job interview, discussing travel plans, and much more. I look forward to using the communicative approach in my classes. Furthermore, I have experience in using the project based approach.

The project based approach was effective in my TESOL classes because it assisted the students in gaining a greater comprehension of the subject matter. Also, the project based approach assisted was used by students to demonstrate the material they learned. In addition, the project based approach improved their English research skills, and problem solving skills as they pertain to the comprehension of the English language. As expected, I look forward to using this approach in the classroom.
