My professional career reflects more than 34 years of education, training, administration, and program development and management in the field Special Education in a variety of different educational settings. I was a Special Educator in self contained and inclusion settings, Itinerant Resource Teacher, Program Coordinator, IEP Chair/Special Education Department Chairman, Audit Monitoring Consultant, Instructor and Advocate. I served on the Principal’s Advisory Committee, School Improvement Team , Faculty Advisor Peer Program, Summer Curriculum Development Committee and Special Education Parent Liaison. I was nominated for National Caring Award-Caring Institute and Md. State Teacher of the Year. I was awarded the Teacher of the Year- Commission on Disabilities, BCPS Board Recognition Award and Best Buddies Award.
I have successfully demonstrated the ability to create customized learning programs for students in all grades with a wide range of academic levels. Tutoring students in a one-one or small group setting has afforded me the opportunity to apply my knowledge, experience and disposition providing instructional support services to each student. During each tutoring session, I will be able to identify any problem, reexamine, explore and incorporate new approaches and strategies enabling all students to achieve individual goals as well as academic success.
My extensive knowledge of the IEP and compliance allows me to clearly understand all components of a student’s IEP or 504 plan. I am skilled in addressing student strengths and needs, infusing identified accommodations, and adapting and modifying the general education curriculum and instructional materials into each lesson.
I do believe educating youngsters is a team effort. Organizing, scheduling and arranging the many variables that need to be put in place for student participation and achievement requires a team approach. Together, we can develop a connection by getting everyone on the same page; a major component in creating student achievement.
Of paramount importance, I strive to make sure learning is a positive and successful experience ensuring that every student is provided with a safe and nurturing learning environment.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
