In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have given instruction to fifth graders on both script and cursive handwriting. I have practice materials that will help children improve their handwriting. Some students whose handwriting was almost unreadable, improved with the instruction and materials I provided them with.
I taught phonics to first graders in my final internship, during college. During this time, I also created and facilitated a before school phonics intervention program with eight target students. For this program, I evaluated and assessed reading skills; provided instructional support through engaging small-group phonics activities that developed and improved the students literacy skills.
