College of Charleston (Biology)
I'm a recent graduate from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. I've spent the last four years studying biology on both the macro and micro ends of the scale. I've also completed an environmental studies minor to complement my B.S. in Biology. Something about the natural world incites a curiosity and passion that fuels my life. I want not only to spread this love for science, but to uncover a source of passionate motivation that will allow you to excel at whatever you do.
So, I'm crazy about science. Contrary to stereotypes regarding scientists, I love writing too! To me, language is a puzzle; all the pieces need to be in the right places for the picture to appear. Without language, how are we to communicate and understand one another? It's this love of language that led to my college English professor nominating me for a writing consultant position at the college's tutoring center, The Center for Student Learning. For 1.5 years I worked with lower level and advanced students alike to improve academic papers.
Now that I've graduated, I can no longer work at the CSL. The problem is, I still love tutoring. Nothing is as rewarding as seeing someone excel at something they used to struggle with. This is why I'm exploring the world of freelance tutoring.
If you want dedication, you found it.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
