I am a compassionate educator who has enjoyed the opportunity to teach a diverse group of children. I am a former special education preschool and kindergarten teacher. I have also worked as an assistant teacher throughout all elementary levels My history has provided elementary and preschool teaching experience with the atypical population as well as those on the Autism Spectrum, Asperger’s Syndrome, intellectual disabilities, physical challenges, noncompliant behavior, speech impairments, developmental delays, and Down Syndrome.
My practice has provided me with extensive knowledge on how to openly assess the mental, behavioral, social, and emotional characteristics of individuals within and outside of a classroom setting. My background with directing and teaching has produced key tools to manage and develop classroom organization with instruction on a consistent and successful basis according to student’s needs.
My greatest capability is facilitating all types of learners. I develop multi-sensory lesson plans to meet the needs of auditory, visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners. I also incorporate various forms of technology, learning centers, group work, and thematic units to teach new concepts. I work to establish great rapport with students and families I encounter. I am reliable and dependable and take great pride in my performance as a professional. I am committed to working hard and ensuring the challenges I accept lead to successful outcomes. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
